Melissa grew up in Knoxville, TN and was an AVID, VORACIOUS reader at a very early age. In kindergarten, she read every book in the classroom library, even the 'big' nonfiction one about birds and their nests and wrote her first full length, illustrated book in the 3rd grade. Even as a young child, she knew that she wanted to create books that would inspire, uplift, entertain, and educate. 

Forty years later she published her first book, "Grandma Marjorie and the Feathered Pirate" quickly followed by "The (Almost) Tooth Fairy" and is currently working on her third. As a lover of imagination and discovery, she crafts stories that spark curiosity and celebrate the messy but magical process of growing up. When she's not dreaming up mischief she can be found chasing wonders in the real world with her husband, mother and two daughters, Sarah and Lilli.
